Professional Diamond Core Drilling

CorePoint provides precision diamond core drilling for projects ranging from small service holes to large structural openings. Using specialist diamond drilling equipment, we can produce clean, accurate circular openings up to 600mm in diameter through concrete, reinforced concrete, masonry and other materials.

We can drill vertically, horizontally and at any angle, allowing accurate penetrations to be formed through floors, walls and other structural elements. Standard drilling depths of up to approximately 2 metres can be achieved, with deeper drilling available using extension systems and higher-powered equipment where project conditions require it.

We primarily use wet diamond drilling to provide efficient cutting whilst controlling dust. Dry drilling can also be carried out where appropriate for the application and site conditions.

Where required, slurry and wastewater generated during wet diamond drilling can be controlled and collected using wet vacuum equipment, helping to maintain a cleaner working area and minimise disruption.

For larger openings, we also provide stitch drilling. By creating a series of overlapping diamond drilled holes, we can form large or irregular openings around 3 metres in diameter and beyond, subject to the structure, access and individual project requirements.

What Is Diamond Core Drilling?

Diamond core drilling is a precise method of creating circular openings through hard construction materials using a hollow, diamond tipped core bit. Rather than breaking or hammering through the material, the rotating diamond segments cut through the surface and remove a cylindrical section known as the core.

The process can be used to drill reinforced concrete, masonry, brick, stone and other materials, producing accurate openings with significantly less vibration than traditional percussive drilling methods. This makes diamond core drilling particularly suitable where precision is important or where openings are required through existing structural elements.

Core drilling is commonly used to create penetrations for mechanical and electrical services, pipework, drainage, ventilation, ductwork and other building services, as well as openings required for structural alterations and specialist construction work.
